Greats of the Game goes live on June 19. That's two days away. This is the all-Icon and Heroes promo — the one that brings back Zidane, Henry, Ronaldinho, R9, Cruyff, and other legends with upgraded special cards. Team 1 runs from June 19 to June 26.
If you're still sitting on PTG cards and undecided about your squad direction, now is the moment to make calls. The short version: save as many coins as you can, don't blow your fodder on last-minute filler SBCs, and have a clear target in mind before June 19.
Greats of the Game is a limited promo that features Icon and Hero cards with significantly boosted ratings and stats compared to their base versions. These aren't the Icon cards you pull out of a standard pack — GOTG versions come with inflated attributes, new PlayStyles+, and better positioning options.
Team 1 typically launches with 10–12 player cards spread across SBCs, objectives, and packs. Based on leaks circulating before the official announcement, the expected headliners include:
Note: The full official squad list will be confirmed on June 19. Card stats are not available before launch — check in-game on release day for exact figures.
This is the part most guides skip. GOTG cards come through three routes, each with a very different cost profile:
| Route | What It Costs | Tradeable? |
|---|---|---|
| SBC | 500K–1.5M+ coins in fodder (varies per player) | Untradeable |
| Objectives | Time investment (matches / tasks) | Untradeable |
| Transfer Market | 1M–4M+ depending on player and rating | Tradeable |
| Packs | RNG — not a planning strategy | Yes (if pulled) |
The realistic path for most players is the SBC route. Based on previous Icon promo SBC costs in FC 26, budget at minimum 600K–800K in liquid fodder if you want to target a mid-tier GOTG SBC on day one. For top-tier targets like R9 or Zidane, expect significantly more.
Two days is not much time, but it's enough to get your squad economy in order.
Any 84+ or 85+ fodder you have is worth more in GOTG SBC segments than it is in a repeatable upgrade SBC. Hold it. The exception: if a PTG SBC like Wan-Bissaka (93 RB, ~115K, deadline June 23) makes clear sense for your squad, that specific spend is justified. Don't fodder-dump into anything you're not sure about.
PTG cards lose relevance fast once GOTG arrives. If you have tradeable PTG cards sitting on your bench or in your club, now is the time to list them. Market prices for PTG cards will drop once Icon-level GOTG cards enter the ecosystem.
The worst thing you can do with a promo like GOTG is go in without a plan. Pick one or two players you actually want — based on your formation and play style — and set a hard ceiling on what you'll spend. Once you've hit that ceiling, stop. The FOMO around Icon promos is real, and it eats budgets alive.
If you've been accumulating FoF tokens from event objectives, verify whether any token store items carry over or expire before June 19. Don't let tokens you already earned sit unused while you scramble for coins.
