Diablo IV Bosses and Loot Tables Explained

As Diablo IV has recently become available for free on PlayStation, a wave of new players is immersing themselves in the game! After completing the core campaign, players should focus on grinding to acquire the best loot available. This leads to the question: how can we target farm the specific items we need?

Don't worry! This guide will break down everything you need to know about Lair Bosses, how to maximize your chances of obtaining unique loot, and strategies for successful farming.

What Are Lair Bosses?

Lair Bosses represent the most formidable opponents you can encounter in Diablo IV, offering opportunities for valuable loot from Torments 1 to 4. Each Lair Boss has a distinctive loot pool, making them ideal targets if you're aiming for specific Unique items tailored to your build.

Each boss is located in a unique area, usually marked on your map. If you’re keen to discover their exact locations, be sure to check out our comprehensive Lair Boss Guide.

Once you find the Lair Boss, gear up for the challenge! After defeating it, a Hoard chest will appear, where your coveted loot is stowed. To unlock these rewards, you’ll need various key materials, unique to each boss, obtainable through different activities across the game.

How Loot Works

Curious about how loot mechanics function? Here's a quick rundown to help explain the process:

  • The first unique item dropped by each boss is guaranteed to come from that boss's specific loot pool.
  • After the initial drop:
    • There is a 50% chance for additional unique items to be from the boss's loot pool
    • 50% chance for items from the general unique loot pool
  • In Torments 3 and above, you're guaranteed at least one extra unique drop.
  • By Torment 4, players can receive up to 7 unique drops total!
  • Group Bonus: Having additional players in your party grants a +33% chance for the boss to drop an extra unique from their loot pool.

What About Mythic Uniques?

Mythic uniques have the potential to drop from various sources, but specific bosses are known to have higher drop rates:

  • Duriel, Andariel, and Harbinger of Hatred possess double the drop rate for mythic uniques compared to other bosses.
  • Belial guarantees an Ancestral Unique in his loot and has the highest drop chance for mythic uniques.

Boss Loot Tables

As previously mentioned, each boss comes with its unique loot pool. While some uniques may drop from multiple bosses, most will have distinct loot lists.

Each class has its designated uniques alongside a selection of general uniques available for all classes. If you're on the lookout for a particular unique but unsure of which boss drops it, consult our Unique Farming Guide. This guide explores each boss in detail, their complete loot pool, and tips for defeating them efficiently.
