This is the no-brainer of the entire event. Log in to FC 26 any time between June 5 (6 PM BST) and July 24, and you automatically get:

• A 93-rated Festival of Football ICON Pelé (untradeable)
• 3× Choose Your Journey Evolutions — free Evo paths to further upgrade him

You don't need to complete objectives, spend coins, or do an SBC. Just open the game. EA hasn't confirmed the exact Evo paths yet, but based on previous ICON Evo events (Zidane, Maradona), you'll be picking from multiple upgrade branches. Hold your decision until the full Evo options are revealed on June 5.

Festival of Football Tokens — New Currency Explained

EA is introducing a dedicated Festival of Football Tokens economy for this event. Key points confirmed directly by EA:

• Tokens are earned only through playing FUT — Rivals, Squad Battles, Champions, Rush, Objectives, SBCs
• They are not available in store packs or for purchase
• Tokens are exchanged for players, packs, and rewards via a Token Store in-game

Translation for grinders: this is EA's way of rewarding active play rather than wallet. If you're clocking regular Rivals games anyway, these Tokens will just stack up. Don't stress about optimising yet — wait until June 5 to see the full Token Store catalogue.

Path to Glory — What Are Live Cards?

Path to Glory (June 5–19) is the opening promo and the one to watch if you care about meta-relevant cards. Live cards upgrade automatically as a player's national team progresses in the World Cup. An 88-rated striker from a strong team could realistically hit 91–92+ if they make the final.

This creates genuine excitement — and genuine risk. A player whose country gets knocked out in the group stage? Their card stays at base promo rating. Best strategy: wait 3–4 days after June 5 before spending serious coins on a Path to Glory card, so you can see which teams are actually performing.

What Should You Do Right Now? (Before June 5)

• Hold your fodder. Don't burn low-rated cards on random SBCs this week. Path to Glory will almost certainly drop its own SBCs on June 5, and you'll want the fodder ready.
• Don't panic-sell your meta players. Promo releases typically tank the market short-term, but Summer Stars at the end of the event will reset demand for the season's best players.
