Where to find Oswin, the Dread Warden

In Path of Exile 2, Oswin, the Dread Warden awaits adventurers in the Wolvenhold map. This map is accessible through the Holden section in the Interludes, where you’ll discover a checkpoint marked by the lore item Elswyth’s Letter.

Although the map layout is often randomized, the boss's location is likely at the edges due to room shape. In many instances, players can start on the map's left side, meandering around the borders. My experience led me to the upper right section of Wolvenhold, just outside Oswin’s door once the checkpoint is cleared.

Oswin, the Dread Warden’s attacks

Engaging Oswin requires vigilance, especially regarding his coldflame attacks. Each ice or fire assault inflicts the Profane Flame debuff, increasing the likelihood of critical hits and stacking with subsequent hits—definitely an unwanted affliction during this intense battle.

Oswin has several potent area-of-effect (AOE) attacks, making it imperative for players to dodge damage wherever possible. He combines these with periodic spikes that emerge from the ground, adding an extra layer of challenge. Below are the primary attacks you should watch for:

• A horde of small dots and larger squares that erupt into spikes after briefly glowing blue.
• Oswin spins his candelabra directly towards the player.
• The candelabra sends out blue flames that create coldflame spikes.
• Oswin can smash the candelabra to form a significant ice pillar, which can also be destroyed by his spinning attack.
• He releases periodic icy AOE damage surrounding him, further triggering the Profane Flame debuff.
• Oswin conjures a massive icy bell that crashes down, dealing area damage and potentially chilling or freezing players caught in range.

How to beat Oswin, the Dread Warden

When facing Oswin, awareness of his reach and AOE attacks is paramount. Characters with ranged capabilities, like a Deadeye or a witch, will have an advantage. Equip yourself with ice resistance for added benefits against his relentless assaults.

As Oswin’s bell smash attack is incredibly rapid, getting as far away as possible is crucial upon seeing it spawn. You can expect a similar speed from another AOE attack, meaning maintaining distance is always a good strategy.

Players should remain alert to Oswin's ice columns. As he dips below 50% health, expect a surge in attack frequency and combos, leading to a whirlwind of icy spikes and AOE attacks. Notably, Oswin possesses considerable health, demanding patience while navigating his dangerous patterns.

Upon defeating Oswin, players can look forward to earning +2 Weapon Set Passive Skill Points—an excellent reward unless you have already completed Cruel difficulty. As someone familiar with Cruel, I didn’t receive this perk; however, if you haven't experienced it, make it a goal to conquer Oswin.
