While there are plenty of game modes that you can enjoy solo in EA Sports FC 26, there's nothing quite like the thrill of competing against or cooperating with a friend. Whether you’re developing a friendly rivalry in Kick Off mode or testing your Ultimate Team creations against each other, having a player buddy enhances the gaming experience significantly. EA Sports FC 26 also brings crossplay into the fray, enabling players from different platforms to enjoy the game together. In this guide, I’ll detail everything you need to know about playing with friends in EA FC 26, how crossplay functions, and how to disable it if you prefer to stay within your platform's ecosystem.

How to Play with Friends in EA FC 26

To enjoy gaming with your friends in EA FC 26’s Ultimate Team mode, look for any game modes marked with a 'Play with a Friend' option in the menu. If a game mode offers this feature, it will be noted as 'Solo or Co-Op' beneath the mode's name.

If you aim to challenge your friend in Ultimate Team, navigate to the 'Play' section and select the 'Play vs Friend' tab. Here, simply choose the friend you wish to invite and wait for them to join your match.

For those not interested in Ultimate Team, you have the option to play Co-Op Seasons where you can team up to face off against other player pairs online. Access this feature from the main menu by inviting your friend after setting up a new Co-Op Season.

Another interesting option is the Clubs game mode, previously known as Pro Clubs. This allows a team of up to 11 players to control individual players as a single unit against another team, emphasizing teamwork as you strive for victory and promotion through divisions. This mode is particularly enjoyable and is my personal favorite way to play with friends in EA FC 26.

Playing with Friends in Couch Co-Op

The couch co-op experience in EA FC 26 is somewhat limited compared to the online experience. You can still engage in a quick Kick Off match against each other by choosing your favorite teams and competing head-to-head. Additionally, using the House Rules option allows you to customize your matches to enhance fun.

How to Add Friends for Crossplay Multiplayer

To add a friend for crossplay, simply press RT on Xbox or R2 on PlayStation to open the EA Connect menu. Navigate to the Player Search tab to locate the 'Add Friend' option. You will see your EA ID displayed on the right side, which you can share for your friend to add you, or vice versa. Once you are friends on the EA Connect platform, you can easily invite them to your game from the 'Play with a Friend' menu for any compatible game mode.

How to Turn Off Crossplay

If you wish to disable crossplay, go to the settings icon located in the top left corner of the main menu. From there, navigate to 'Online Settings' and select 'Matchmaking Options'.

Here, you'll find two options. The second one is the 'Cross-play Enabled' toggle. Simply switch this off, and you will solely be able to compete with other players on the same platform, such as Xbox vs Xbox or PC vs PC. Remember, if you ever wish to revert to crossplay, just revisit this setting and enable it again.

It’s important to keep in mind that you cannot match up against players from different console generations with crossplay turned off. For instance, an Xbox Series X user will not be able to play against a PS4 user.
